Our Founder
Hello, my name is Serena Ding. I am a first year student and Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia. I play the alto saxophone. I started this organization in high school and served as its first President because I believe that the arts have a higher purpose to benefit the community. As the Founder of this organization, I am passionate about helping the underserved, especially children and the elderly through the arts and building a bridge between the arts and the sciences.

Hello! My name is Angelina Quan, and I am a senior at Charlotte Country Day School in Charlotte, NC. I am a violinist in the North Carolina All-State Honors Orchestra. The arts, especially music, fascinates me, and I want to bring this experience to more others. With our amazing leadership team, I enjoy hosting concerts, tutoring, and music workshops for those with limited access to the arts. Through United Under Arts, it's been amazing to connect with so many people who are passionate about art and about opening up opportunities for others to experience its uplifting power!
Caroline Yao

Hello! My name is Caroline Yao and I am a senior in high school. I have always carried a strong passion for music and the arts, since I was young. I have been playing piano since I was five years old, and later immersed myself in theatre, singing and dance. All these years of performing and participating in the arts community opened up new opportunities for me and I learned about how beneficial music could be to warm the soul and bring people together. I hope to bring others to express their creativity and voices through the arts and into the world. As the Vice President, I aim to help others gain experience and opportunities in the arts, as well as spread awareness of United Under Arts’ mission.

Hello! My name is Sophia Jin and I'm currently a junior at Folsom High School in Folsom, California. My journey with the arts began in kindergarten, when I started learning piano, and since then I've won multiple state, national, and international awards. I'm also a violinist and the pianist of the Folsom Lake College Youth Chamber Orchestra. At age 7, I started volunteering with the Tzu Chi Foundation by playing piano at a local senior home. After seeing the impact it made on the people I played for, this experience inspired me to begin helping introduce arts programs at other senior homes and hospitals in my county. I'll be assisting with logistics and all other organizational support as the Management Executive of United Under Arts.

Hey everyone! My name is Fiona DeFrance and I am a junior in Los Angeles, California. At my high school, I am a member of my school’s varsity swim team as well as a violist in our Chamber Orchestra. For me, orchestra serves as an outlet to express myself through the power of music as well as a great place to meet lifelong friends. Previously, I was chapter president of UUA Los Angeles and am elated to be a part of the international management team!

Hi! My name is Fahtma Qureshi and I am a pre-IB 10th grader at Monarch Park Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Ontario. I have joined as the secretary of UUA! I have always loved the arts (especially musical). Some of my interests revolve around playing sports like soccer, video editing, playing the flute, and just being involved! I will complete various activities and duties with strong organization and positivity. I hope I can use my skills to help UUA continue to thrive!

Hey everyone! I'm Namra Malik and am currently a second year student at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University studying Economics and Accounting. My passion for art started at a young age when I began using it to express my emotions and it quickly become an interest of mine that I always go back to, especially since art is an amazing way for everyone to come together as one through unity. As I got older, I began using my artistic talents to achieve awards on local, regional and national levels. Through these achievements, I was truly able to understand how much of a positive impact it had on others, and once learning about UUA, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of, to join those with similar interests and skills.

Hello! My name is Sophie Hao and I’m currently a senior at Hereford High School. Visual art has always been an integral part of my life: from painting to digital art and design, I’m always eager to explore different mediums. Outside of visual art, I also play the violin and am in my school’s chamber orchestra. Through these artistic pursuits, I’ve learned that the arts could play a major role in serving our community and bringing positive impact. As a marketing officer, I’ll reach out for collaborations to increase outreach and spread UUA’s mission of fostering creative opportunities for others.

Hello! My name is Bernice Deng! I am a social entrepreneur, activist, and marketer. I currently hold many leadership positions in many nonprofits, including Marketing Manager, Website Designer, and more. My goal is to create an impact for a better world, whether it is through her companies or her voice. I am also passionate about environmental science as well as marketing. In addition, I love to spend time with nature and go swimming.
Roopa Das

Hello! My name is Roopa Das, and I am a high school junior from Virginia. When I was younger, I painted and drew random stuff, although I was terrible at it. It gave me a way to express myself, and I still draw whenever I get the chance. I believe art lets one express themself and lets others get to know who they are through the arts. As a marketing officer, I will help manage some of the social media accounts, alongside aiding with outreach.

Hello! My name is Nhi Pham and I am a junior at Round Rock High School. Art has played an important role in my life, encouraging me to think creatively and explore outside of my comfort zone. I love to do anything art related, from painting and drawing to digital art and 3D modeling. I believe that the arts help unify society, bringing people, cultures, and ideas together. As a UUA officer, I hope to spread the organization’s meaningful mission and help others find their unique expression through the arts.
